Day Thirty-One

Meal planning in the Queen household happened tonight.

So very exciting, huh?

The boxes to the left is where we put a check if we like it & want to keep the recipe.....or an X if it was yucky & we'll make it no more!

Days Twenty-Eight through Thirty

I'm back from Vegas, so hopefully that means I'm back to posting daily!  I will be honest, I did not take any pictures Sunday.  I know, I know...that's terrible.  But, my excuse is that I got up at 3:20 a.m. & was flying all day & just so tired that I forgot.  Forgive me??

Day Twenty-Eight

Saturday we had a free day in Vegas so we took the opportunity to walk around & check out some of the hotels.  This was one of my favorites!  It is the Cosmopolitan hotel & these "diamonds" were dripping off of everything!  It was so very pretty!

(Pretend) Day Twenty-Nine

The interior of most of the hotels in Vegas were decorated for the Chinese New Year, so they had extra decor.  This photo is in Caesar's Palace.  There are more that I like from the conservatory there...but those will probably be posted on FaceBook.

Day Thirty

These are the lovely flowers Jeremy gave to me when he picked me up at the airport Sunday.  :)

Whew!  Glad that trip is over & glad I can be posting everyday now, & not big photo dumps trying to catch up!

Days Twenty-One through Twenty-Seven

Whew!  Ok, I truly don't remember when I took some of these pictures, so there will just be 7 pictures to make up for the seven days.  Fair?  Fair.

Day Twenty-One

We went to dinner at Lillie's in the hotel & our waiter totally got one over on us.  When we each ordered our meal he asked what kind of rice we wanted with it.  "You wan whie rie, frie rie, noonles?"  So, naturally we all said fried rice.  Little sucker didn't tell us it was a separate dish at $7 a pop!  The white rice came with the meal, but forgot to tell us.  So we had a table full of fried rice & we laughed about  :)

Day I Don't Know 1

So, Ashley Furniture started out as a furniture manufacturing company before they went big & started opening up HomeStores.  Well, they obviously didn't want to change their logo from "manufacturing" to a nice, sleek, classy "furniture store" logo (think Restoration Hardware or Pottery Barn....classy).  They occupy the top 2 floors at The World Market Center & this is what you see when you ride up the escalator.  So.Very.Cheesy.  And it makes me laugh!

Day I Don't Know 2

This is the original Golden Nugget that the hotel was named after.  The description below it tells all about it, but I forgot what it said  :)  Sorry.

Day I Don't Know 3

I was trying to find a good onesie for Monica out here, but they all said stuff like this.  Now, if it was a married couple that had this on their kid as a joke, that would be funny.  But too bad that probably usually not the case.  If they had just recently been to Vegas, then I totally would have bought this for her!

Day I Don't Know 4

We stopped & watched the light show on Freemont one night.  I think this was the James Taylor show.  They have a zip line now that goes over Freemont, but I was too late everytime I tried to get a photo of people on it!

Day I Don't Know 5

HAAAA HAHAHHAAA!!!!  Check out the cupid on the left!  We saw him almost every night we went down Freemont for dinner.  He was nasty dirty!  I wish I would have got a picture of his face because it was all matted with facial hair....yuuuuuck.  But funny!

Day I Don't Know 6

The shark tank at the hotel I got to slide through the last time I was here....well, it's more like I got stuck in this part of the slide, but I got to see the sharks up close!  And then I had to push myself out  :)  Too bad I'm modest & wear board shorts in the pool!

That's all for now!  It's been hard keeping this up, but it's been fun because I've been forced to take photos everyday.

Caio from Vegas!!

Days Sixteen through Twenty

Wow, ok I have some catching up to do.  My computer finally decided to take my SD card so I could upload my photos.....and I promise I have been taking photos every.single.day.

Day Sixteen

This is an accessory for my Cottage bedroom collection.  I pulled anything I could find that was "cottage" even though I have no idea what the beds look like.....but I like the majority of the cottage things so I'll make it work!

Day Seventeen

Tuesday we went to eat at one of the restaurants in the hotel that I'm pretty sure still had some of the original fixtures in it from when the Golden Nugget first opened.  This light, for instance, is original I think.  I like the pom pom fringe!

Day Eighteen

Wednesday was Nicholl's birthday so she chose the sushi restaurant on the strip called "Ra".  Even though I don't like sushi, they had other food that was really good!  I loved these red lights that were all over the restaurant, but it kind of made reading your bill hard....which is what they want, probably!

Day Nineteen

Nineteen isn't very good because I didn't take any photos with my good camera....just my phone.

This was taken to show mama the retro clocks I had to hang all over the wall.  This is in one of my youth sections where we have to hang decals on our walls.  It can be pretty fun when you want mindless work, but I came in the next day & all these little declas (that took me the entire day to put up....I didn't leave this area for 10 hours one day) were peeling off the walls.  Aaaahhh!!!  So I have to rubber cement them back on the walls.  Sigh.

Day Twenty

I have two pictures for day twenty because I couldn't choose!

The first is the main sign for the building that we are in:  the "World Market Center".  This place is huge.  I hope to get some other pictures up on here of the rest of the building because I like all the materials they used.  The second is one that I was so excited to see the first time I came to Vegas!  It is a brain health center that is built by famous contemporary architect Frank Gehry & I have always wanted to see some of his work.  You can tell his work by one glance.  The style he uses is deconstuctivism & many of his buildings look like they are moving or swirling.  Very cool to actually see it up close & how he makes the facade look this way!  There was a photo shoot going on in front of the building for some magazine I think.

Hopefully today I'll get todays picture up, but we'll see!  We've been told it will be a long day here at the showroom!

Cheerio from Vegas!

Day Sixteen

Ok, so I don't think I'll be posting a picture today, even though I took one.  My work laptop doesn't like reading my SD card & tries to shut my computer down when I try to pull up my photos.  Hopefully tomorrow I can get it to work when I have more time!

Days Fourteen & Fifteen

Playing catch up today!  Since the Golden Nugget charges $24 a DAY if you use the internet, we have to get online from our office at the showroom...so I am a day behind.  Yesterdays picture(s) is of our hotel room.  For some reason we got a room with a dance floor in the middle.  Whoop whoop!

Today's pictures are of the area where we eat lunch every day.  Such a nice view of the city & the mountains!

This is where we'll com to take breaks to & see some sunshine since the showrooms don't have any windows.  Hopefully I'll get a picture of this at night before we leave because you can see a lot of the lights from the strip!

Day Thirteen

I made it to Vegas!!  A little jet lagged still today, but I should be adjusted by tomorrow hopefully.

So, I didn't post a picture yesterday but I tried, I promise!  Little story about the travel to the great out West yesterday:  We flew from Tampa to Phoenix & I sat by the window on the plane (like always).  What a beautiful sight to see the landscape turn from the green of the south to the rocks of the west!  Did I get a picture?  Nope.  Why, you ask?  Well, as we were flying over what I think was Texas I reached in my purse for my camera, was about to flip it on when I realized the door for my SD card slot was open and................................EMPTY.  Yes, empty!!  I had no card to hold pictures.  I wanted to bang my head against the window!  So I took zero pictures on that plane ride.

THEN, we stopped in Phoenix & hopped right on a plane to LasVegas & I said to myself, "Self, you are going to break the rules on this plane ride & take pictures with your phone!"

And that I did.

This is a picture of a plateau somewhere in Arizona that I thought was pretty impressive. (Stinkin wing was in the way!)  You know when you're flying it takes you a second to focus?  Like, "Is that really a mountain?"  Well, that's what I thought when I saw this.

Then the pilot came over the intercom & said, "Ladies & Gentlemen, in about 5 minutes we'll be flying over the Grand Canyon & you will be able to see it from both sides of the plane."  Yippy!!  Five minutes pass and the pilot comes back on & says, "We got re-routed, so only the right side of the plane will be able to see some of the Grand Canyon."  Hot dog, I was on the right side of the plane!

Can you see it?  It is above the wing.  Here is another one:

Of course, it was much more impressive in person!  Although I wish we could have been closer...but I can't complain!  This next one is just of some pretty mountains.

And here's the Vegas strip when we landed!!

I think I got more than 1 picture for the day :)  I was just making up for no SD card.

BUT, I did get a card this morning at the store so I can get some good pictures!!  YIPPY!!!  Later on today there may be another post since I'm a day behine....but that depends on how work goes today.  And hopefully I can get some good ones looking down the strip at night!

Cheers from Vegas!!

Day Twelve

All my bags are packed, I'm ready to go......

Leaving for Las Vegas in the morning for 17 days!  If only it were for fun & not for work.

Sigh.

Day Eleven

This is a close up of the quilt my talented mother-in-law made me for Christmas.  It has all the colors we used in the house incorporated in it.

I especially like the square with the glitter in them.  This glitter can't fall off so Jeremy's ok with it.

Setting used: Auto with manuel focus.

Day Ten

Working on a project for a photo contest.

I hope my cute boy gets a prize!

Day Nine

Tonight we went to our friends house to have dinner & then they had a "surprise" for us.  On the way over we talked about what they would want to surprise us with but we came up with nothing.

After dinner we sat down in the living room & Josh turned on the TV & I yelled, "THE BOX!!  YES!!"

Have any of you seen this?  Well if not, we can give you our copy (and yes I do mean GIVE).  For quite a while now Josh & Brandi have told us about this movie that they hated  but told us we totally have to watch it because it's like watching a train wreck....you just can't turn it off & your head is whirling after it's over.  Worst. Movie. Ever.  They  just laughed at us because throughout the movie we would be like, "What?!?  I am so lost!!" and we sat around & talked about it for quite a while afterwords!  It was very entertaining, actually!!

And we got to see this little cutie!  It's a little blurry because of the lighting, but she's cute anyway!

Day Eight

Today we took Balin to the park to walk the trail & play in the river.  That puppy is ALL DOG!  Not only did he splash in the water & swim around, but he tore down that muddy river bank like it was his job.  I think it is the dirtiest I've ever seen him in his 5 months of life!

And since he was dirty, we were dirty too.  He would run up to us so excited & his look just said, "LOOK HOW MUCH FUN THIS IS??!?!?!" while swinging his muddy tail back & forth, speckling us with river mud.  Watching him play was probably the best 10 minutes of my day!

This was taken after all the mud was stamped off our shoes...but trust me, we were dirty.

Day Seven

I think these little oranges have the perfect name because they are just so cute!
And since they're so small & easy to peel, they'll be gone in no time.

I'm actually posting TWO pictures today!  This next one is just too cute, so I had to post it.  Jeremy is taking Balin hiking with him soon & we decided to put a red bandana on him so he'll be easy to spot.  He blends in so well nature it's easy to lose him!

Ready for his hike!

Day Six

Tonight was relaxing....tried a new restaurant, went shopping & came home & watched a movie.

I love The Help!  One of my Christmas presents from Jeremy!

Day Five

Since we've been having freeze warnings in our area, I had to bring my plants in from outside.  I set my 2 pots of Basil, Amaryllis flower & Cuban oregano plants in front of a sunny window on an old, ugly towel.

I think they'll be happy & warm there until I can take them back out in the elements!

Day Four

Ah Christmas, it is time for you to be put away.  The Christmas tree comes down, the wreath off the door, ornaments packed & put up in the attic, and a big big mess swept up.  What do I like about this picture?

The dirt that we track in being swept up?  No.  (Although, I do like a good clean floor!)

The Scottish Pine needles from our big Christmas tree that fall to the floor every time you just look at the tree?  No.

It's the glitter.  Do you see it?

That's just glitter from one ornament that fell off the tree...and I have looooots of ornaments with glitter on them.  My husband hates glitter.  Every year at Christmas time we have roughly the same conversation as I unpack & set out Christmas decorations:

Him:  Ugh.
Me:  What?
Him:  Glitter.
Me:  I know!  Isn't it magical?!
Him:  Nope.  It sticks to everything & you find it the rest of the year.
Me:  It covers everything with glittery goodness!!

But he's a good sport & let's me decorate with all my glittery Christmas things every year!  Now back to sweeping up more glitter....

Day Three

I wasn't very inspired today...but I do like my deep purple wall & Ikea lamp in my bedroom

Nice & comfy!

Day Two

We set out early this morning for Islands of Adventure.  This is our dog Balin just after he woke up & was heading out to play.

Day One

And we're off!  First photo of the year.

And hopefully the first of 366 photos.

This is the wreath my mama made me for my front door.  The first wreath to be hung on the door of our new house.
